Smoking Marijuana Tied to Birth Defects

A Study provided by American Pregnancy Association…….

The American Pregnancy Association (APA) is a well respected National Health Organization based in Texas and is  committed to promoting reproductive and pregnancy wellness through education, support, advocacy, and community awareness.

Its publications are predominantly by doctors and the agency has no particular interest (either way) in the Cannabis Lobby.

A recent study conducted by APA tells us that EACH DAY in USA 16,438 women become pregnant and that over 5,000 of those pregnancies are at risk of premature termination.

The APA informs us that smoking and consuming of cannabis is not only harmful to the woman consuming it, but presents serious danger to the unborn.  According to the APA, studies have shown that consumption of cannabis during pregnancy can result in miscarriage, low birth weight, premature labor, placental abruption, fetal death, and even maternal death.

The following information can help you understand these drugs and their effects. “Marijuana crosses the placenta to your baby. Marijuana, like cigarette smoke, contains toxins that keep your baby from getting the proper supply of oxygen that he or she needs to grow.”

The APA report states: “Smoking marijuana increases the levels of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the blood, which reduces the oxygen supply to the baby. Smoking marijuana during pregnancy can increase the chance of miscarriage, low birth weight, premature births, developmental delays, and behavioral and learning problems.”

That is not quite the story that is being offered by well financed lobby that is trying to convince us to legalize this drug (cannabis).  The interest of this lobby is solely money and (be assured) they have little interest in the health of either their potential clients or the unborn.

Which is more important to you?  The health risks to the unborn or the greed of those promoting legalizaiton of cannabis????
