Shouting out happy Cinco de Mayo day to my Mexican friends as you celebrate this national holiday.
On this date, in 1861 when the undermanned and undertrained Mexican army gained an epic victory over an invading French army at Puebla, Mexico.
Cinco de Mayo is celebrated more in the United States of America, by Mexicans and Americans alike, than it is in Mexico.
Making basic Mexican food like salsa and burritos is not too complicated, add some decorations and mix some Margaritas and you’re good to go. The celebration is a fun holiday, really more about celebrating the Mexican way of life than about remembering a battle.
I am thinking that I will drop by the LCBO and pick up a six-pack of Corona and then buy a lime and some sea salt. These are the ingredients to my favorite Cinco de Mayo recipe.
Enjoy the day and ”feliz día cinco de mayo”.
