[I have no time for those who cuddle up with terrorists]
Terrorism exhibits its brutal characteristics for obvious reasons. The intent of terrorism is to create fear by way of terror so as to advance the politics advocated by extreme individuals such as Omar Khadr. This individual deserves no less a fate than grief, pain and wanton cruelty inflicted both by creeps like the Khadr clan and his fellow extremists.
The evidence in the Khadr case leaves me with firm belief that Khadr is a jihad extremist with deep-seeded hatred towards those he considers to be infidels. It is actually painful to listen to Khadr’s present attempts to exonerate him by way of a clever and devious public relations campaign. Sorry, Omar I aint buying your scheme. In fact, the entire Khadr family have no place here and are unfit to live among those of us who value freedom. These jihadi criminals would be about as welcome as a family of skunks arriving in your neighborhood. At least the skunks have a valid purpose and proper place.
A great friend emailed after reading the initial posting of this article. She asked if I knew the difference between a dead skunk and a dead terrorist on the highway. Understandably, the response was that there would be skid marks before hitting the skunk on the highway and no skid marks if the known target was an Islamic extremist. Many that I know would be quite happy to encounter a jihad speed bump and would also likely put the car into reverse and back over such a worthy target. (note: no virgins waiting for such an unworthy death)
Let’s be straight. Khadr traveled half way around the world to engage in terrorism. He was absolutely NOT a radicalized innocent. When Khadr travelled to the Middle East, he did so to fight in order to create an Islamic Caliphate. It is lunacy to attempt to believe that this individual was anything other than a cold-blooded jihadist; no different from Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (the Boston bombers); Michael Zehaf-Bibeau (murderer of Corporal Nathan Cirillo); al-Qaeda founder, Osama bin Laden. They do not possess even to most rudimentary understanding words like compassion or human kindness. These people are fanatics that must be systematically culled and eliminated before they can inflict more harm on human-kind.
For Khadr’s expensive (and publicly funded) legal team to now attempt to project the image of misunderstood individual is a sad commentary about the soft-under-belly of our Canadian culture. It is appalling that we live in a society that would ban pit-bull terriers because of gross public harm and yet allow jihadist terror advocates walking our streets. In the case of Omar Khadr, those advocating a lenient approach to this creature blithely skip over a few facts about Khadr and his entire family. Let us do a bit of fact checking before opting for the “benefit of doubt”. (1) Omar Khadr travelled first to Pakistan and then, onwards to Afghanistan to join his father and older brother who had similarly left Canada to engage in terrorism, (2) throughout the period of his capture (2002) his sister and mother (here inside of Canada) have continued to advocate for Islamic extremism and (3) Omar Khadr’s own actions since his transfer to Canada have provided firm-hard proof that he is not to be believed.
The conditions under which Omar Khadr was granted transfer to Canada were (a) he recognized the crimes he had committed and (b) that he show remorse for the harms he had caused. To the thinking of any reasonable person, his present attempts at denial are ample proof that this individual is NOT to be trusted.
Let us show sympathy to those that are worthy of sympathy: not to terrorists. It is Corporal Cirillo’s orphaned son and the orphaned children of U.S. Sgt. Christopher Speer that are rightfully entitled to full sympathy of decent people and not Omar Khadr. To now attempt to paint Khadr as anything less than a fanatic Islamic Jihadist is a betrayal to Cirillo, Speers and all others who have died at the hands of Khadr and his associates. The ill-conceived attempts by a hand full of academics is unworthy and will only serve to convince others that no matter how heinous their crimes against humanity that they too will be welcomed back as equals. All credible and trustworthy evidence provides a solid case against Khadr. I (personally) have no major problems with use of modified interrogation tactics employed at places such as Guantanamo. They are certainly (at least) appropriate considering the hardened character of individuals like Omar Khadr. His dishonesty since repatriation to Canada is more than ample proof that perhaps a bit of sleep deprivation is a great deal more humane that cutting off soldiers’ head or burning captured aircrews alive in metal cages. I have little remorse when I step on a cock roach.
I suggest that Omar Khadr and those members of his family who still openly espouse jihad be stripped of Canadian citizenship and that they be shipped somewhere far away. The widow of the murdered US soldier who died as a result of Omar Khadr’s grenade attack is seeking civil damages from the Khadr clan. Sgt. Speer was a trained medical corps member and was in the process of administrating first aid when Khadr chose to kill him to advance his jihad.
You cannot defeat terrorism by displaying weakness. Your enemies are extremely devout, will recognize such weakness as vulnerability and unleash even more brutal archaic attacks in order to exploit vulnerability.
