 I am NOT a sovereigntist and have been around politics long enough to comprehend this: even the threat of entering into the murky world of how to split Canada means trouble for the Canadian economy.   Investors tend to shy away from high risk ventures.

Having said that, I have been around Quebecers and Quebec politics to have (long ago) accepted this single paradigm.  And it is such a fundamental way of seeing the world through different eyes that brings reality to any conversation about any election in Quebec.

There are not really party allegiances in Quebec.  There are two stripes: federalists and sovereigntist.  Any vote in Quebec can be determined by whatever candidate can promise the best deal for Quebec.  The reality of that is that Quebec voters are not that different from any…
