I have titled this work with a portion of prophetic statement made by Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.
We do our best when we come to understand the lessons taught by history.
For those who never read about Martin Niemöller, he recounted (for all of us) the costs of silence in the face of attacks on freedom. Reverent Kings words in defense of freedom deserve no more of a rightful place in history than what Rev. Niemöller said when he wrote:
